MY JOURNEY INTO TERTIARY INSTITUTION
At age 17, I had just finished my secondary school education and waiting to write Jamb when I got the opportunity to start teaching in a private primary school.
This time, we were living in a room and a parlor in which the landlord was kind enough to give me a room to myself at the BQ.
When I was paid my first salary (โฆ4,000) I went straight to an electrical store and purchased AKT bulbs so as to replace all the yellow 60Watts bulbs in my church. I got a bigger one for the alter.
That has been on my mind and promised myself to get it done as soon as I get paid
The resident pastor noticed the change in the light and called for me.
I remembered just like it happened yesterday – smiles
He prayed for me on this particular day and I could feel how empty he became afterwards. He deliberately poured out himself on me that day.
I just can’t forget Pastor Sylvester Ogedi
About a month after, the proprietor of the primary school asked me to move to the secondary department where I started teaching JSS 1 and JSS 2 students
Not too long to that time, Jamb came up and I went for it.
Fortunately for me, I scored 210
Fogerit ooo, I b efiko
I was the Assistant Senior Prefect nah, so what were you expecting
Also the President, Culture and Tourism (Drama Group)
At the same time, I was part of the Press Club
Also an executive in the Jet’s Club
I got so motivated by the jamb score and started preparing for Post UME at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife (OAU) with the aim of studying Architecture.
This was the time OAU gave out 5,000 UME forms and it became a battle of the fittest
I couldn’t make it to OAU as my score was low
I returned home and continued my secondary school teaching, I was doing it with all pleasure and gladness
As it already appeared that the whole year was going to pass me by without getting an admission into a tertiary institution, an uncle of mine advised my dad to consider Pre-Degree for me.
That was the beginning of my journey as a Futarian
Kindly anticipate Episode 2
